Materials & construction

We mold every rugged liner clip from UV-stabilized polypropylene chosen for its balance of flex and tensile strength. This polymer resists cracking in sub-zero cold, stays dimensionally stable above 150°F, and shrugs off gasoline, diesel, and common bed chemicals without degrading.

The clip body features a tapered shank that guides into your liner’s pre-drilled hole, expanding slightly as it passes the retention ridge to lock in place. The head flares just enough to distribute clamping force across the liner material without creating a snag point for cargo straps or tie-downs.

Compatibility & installation

Which Rugged Liner models use these clips?

These replacement clips fit every drop-in, fold-up, and under-rail bed liner we’ve manufactured since 2008. If your liner has factory clip holes molded into the flange or sidewall, these fasteners will work.

Installation takes about one minute per clip. Align the tapered shank with the liner’s mounting hole, press straight down with firm hand pressure until you hear a sharp click, then tug gently to confirm the head is seated flush. No heat gun, no hammer, no adhesive.

Why clips wear & when to replace

Frequent liner removal—common among contractors who swap between bed configurations—gradually rounds the retention ridge on both the clip and the liner hole. You’ll notice increased play or a looser snap when reinstalling.

Extreme temperature cycling accelerates polymer fatigue. If your truck lives in the desert or northern snowbelt, inspect clips annually for hairline cracks around the head. A cracked clip loses clamping force and can pop out during hard braking or off-road articulation.

Perfect fit, installed in minutes
I’ve pulled my liner out dozens of times for different jobs, and a few clips finally gave up. These snapped right in with zero hassle—same fit as the originals. Liner is locked down tight again and doesn’t rattle on rough roads.

Solved my edge flutter problem
My liner had been flapping at highway speed for weeks. Replaced all the clips around the tailgate area and the difference was immediate. No more noise, no more movement. Should’ve done this months ago.

Tough enough for commercial use
We run a landscaping crew and pull liners weekly to clean out mulch and gravel. These clips handle the abuse—still holding strong after six months of constant removal and reinstall. I keep an extra pack in each truck now.

Genuine Rugged Liner quality
I tried cheaper universal clips first and they lasted about two weeks before cracking. These are clearly made from better material—thicker, more rigid, and they lock in with a solid click you can feel. Worth every penny.

Added extras for heavy equipment
I haul a welder and toolboxes daily, so I installed clips between all the factory holes for extra support. The liner doesn’t shift at all now, even on job site roads. Installation was simple—no tools needed.

Restored my liner like new
After eight years, several clips were worn and loose. Replacing them brought back that snug, rattle-free fit I had when the liner was brand new. The pack of ten covered my entire bed with a couple left over for spares.

Good to know

Questions About Rugged Liner Clips

Press down on each clip head around your liner perimeter. If any feel loose, sit proud of the surface, or pull free with light hand pressure, they’ve lost retention and should be replaced.

Visible cracks, especially around the head or shank, also signal it’s time for new clips. A properly seated rugged liner clip should require 35–40 pounds of pull force to remove and sit perfectly flush with the liner material.

These replacement clips are vehicle-agnostic—they fit the liner, not the truck. As long as you have a Rugged Liner brand bed liner with molded clip holes in the flange or sidewall, these fasteners will work.

If you’re unsure whether your liner uses clip-style mounting, check for small round holes (typically 0.4–0.5 inches diameter) spaced around the perimeter. Those holes accept these push-in clips. Liners that use rail-clamp or stake-pocket systems do not require separate clips.

Yes, for most clip locations. You’ll have better access and visibility if you fold or tilt sections of the liner, but full removal isn’t required.

Slide your hand between the liner and bed wall, align the clip shank with the hole from above, then press down firmly until it clicks. For clips near the tailgate or corners, partial liner removal may make installation easier, but the process itself needs no tools or fasteners—just hand pressure.

Each pack contains ten rugged liner clips. A typical full-size bed uses 18–22 clips for complete perimeter coverage, so most customers order two packs for full replacement with a few spares.

Mid-size and compact beds may need only 12–16 clips total, meaning one pack might suffice if you’re replacing select worn fasteners rather than the entire set.

We engineer these clips to the precise hole diameter, material thickness, and retention-ridge geometry of Rugged Liner products. Using them with other brands may result in loose fit, insufficient retention, or damage to the liner material.

If you need replacement clips for a different liner brand, contact that manufacturer for parts designed to their specifications. Mixing fastener systems can compromise both safety and warranty coverage.

No. Using genuine Rugged Liner replacement clips installed per instructions maintains your liner’s lifetime warranty. Clips are considered wear items subject to normal use and environmental exposure.

Using aftermarket or universal clips, however, may void warranty coverage if they cause damage to the liner material or mounting holes. Always use OEM parts for mission-critical attachment points.

Yes, if the clips show no visible damage and still snap in firmly. The retention ridge is designed for multiple insertion cycles under normal use.

That said, frequent removal accelerates wear. If you pull your liner weekly or more often—common among contractors and weekend off-roaders—inspect clips for rounding or cracks every few months and replace any that feel loose. Keeping a spare pack on hand ensures you’re never stuck mid-job.
